Steering trouble (archive)

I've got an 84 733i that has had ongoing steering trouble(tight and play). It started with the powerball which was replaced(which helped for awhile), then the funny gurgling noise when you turned the steering wheel started, the pump was replaced. The steering is still tight, and it still gurgles after all this. The system was then "flushed" and still did the same.Is it the Str. box or any ideas would be helpful. How hard is the steering box to change? thanks
