Protection Package?? (archive)

I have a '98 750 with a door window that has been replaced and does not match the rest. The tint is wrong and it looks like s**t. The stealer figured I had the double pane glass. There are three choices in '98 I guess, the standard glass (740s), the double pane (standard 750), and what was referred to as "burglar proof". I told them the car has the break resistant glass option, which I associated with burglar proof. I was told that the burglar proof was for the protection package. Whatever, these guys are "supposed" to know right? I got to thinking after I left, there was no factory protection package in '98 was there? Does anyone recall when they began to offer it. I think it wasn't until '00 maybe '99 at the earliest. I would love to hear the official word so I can straighten out the stealer and get my car back to looking right.
