AC runs with key removed from ignition (archive)

When I remove the key from the ignition of my '93 740i, the AC continues to run and I have to shut the blower off. Obviously it is easy to end up with a dead battery when you forget to turn it off manually. Is there a relay (stuck perhaps) that could be causing the AC to continue to run with the key removed? Any help would be appreciated.
