Hi Bimmer nut,

before anybody can really tell you what to buy 540 or 740, you have to see what do you want to do with the car. If you travel often with 4 people in the car over longer distances the 740 is the better choice. If you drive a lot on twisting mountain roads and try to have fun then the 540 is the better choice. This list could be 50 points long but that would not help you.

It all depends on what you want to do.

I tried hard to spare myself this last line but I have to say it. The Jaguar XJR costes more and can do nothing better than the 540n or 740 that's the main reason you don't see to many of them.
