How do you remove headliner / rear view mirror? (archive)

Does anyone know if the rear view mirror can be removed. I want ot make a custom bracket, and it would be far easier to work on if I could put it on the bench.

I have opened the little access panels which seem mostly for the wiring for the self dimming functions. I can't figure out what comes next, if anything.


Also can the headliner be popped off so I can run some wiring through it to the trunk?
