Try disconnecting your battery for about an hour. This will clear all stored adaptive memory & will reset itself (adapt) to your driving habits.
Worked for me. Good luck.

Finally did it! Got a CPO 98iL w/45K miles. It is a beaut, BUT I am noticing that the transmission seems to want to always be in a higher gear. When I step on the accelerator, the car downshifts to get moving. I am driving in the "D" position. Is this normal? Maybe I should drive in the "4" position instead. Any thoughts? Thanks.
