Changed out the defective radiator today. Top hose connection broke. Everything went well with no suprises. It took 3 hours. I spent 1/2 hour looking for a rubber groment that fell into the engine compartment. Watch for those attached to the radiator or you will be doing the same thing. Things you may need that I had in my misc. supplies that you may want. 2 small house clamps for the vent hose on top of the radiator. About a 3/8" hose. Mine had some crimped clamps that you ruin getting them off. You may also want 2 of the plastic rivets that hold on the fan cowl. You may brake them when you take them off. A tool that you may not have, is something to take the fan clutch nut off. I use a large screw driver and tap it with a hammer. Remember it is left handed. I do the same to tighten it. BMW has special tools to do this if you want to buy the wrench and holder. This method has always worked for me. All in all a pretty easy job for a DIYer. Things you have to remove. Expansion tank, fan, fan cowl, suction-filter housing, air-mass sensor, and the bottom rock guard. I recommend that you get a manual before doing it. BMW has some pretty fancy hold down clips that you won't know how to disengage if you don't have the manual. The plastic on the old radiator showed signs of deterioration. There is just some things that should NOT be plastic.
