While looking at some of the little rock-nicks in the front of my car, I was thinking about the following distance discussion on the board a few days ago. It occurred to me that, due to gravity, rocks kicked up by the car in front of you don't stay airborne for long, and that the closer the following distance, the greater chance there is for running into any airborne rocks. This would be especially true of following rear-wheel drive vehicles like pickups, since the wheels doing the pushing are most likely to kick back anything they encounter. Just a thought when considering how close to follow. I hate the little nicks and they seem to be more noticeable on my white car. If backing off would save a few dings or a headlight or windshield, it would definitely be worth it.
