There are recirculating air filters under the dash on each side. The instuctions say fold the glovebox forwards. Remove trim on the control unit and trim over pedals. Unclip ventilation duct over left footwell. Lift fap over pin, pull silghtly forwards, and then pull downwards to remove filters. Repeat procedure for the other side. I haven't performed this changeout but is looks fairly simple. This is on a 97 740iL. I am assuming yours is the same. I have changed out the microfilters under the hood. This is an easy procedure. Good luck.

I recently purchased a 98 740il (E38) and I was wondering if there were any microfilters in the interior of the car (like the e32 that I was used to)??? I know about the ones that are located on the underside of the hood, but I am not sure of any interior ones. If there are interior ones, how do I get to them and replace it??? Any information wpould help. Thanks.
