The CD manual is not real clear on this. It does not have a section for just removing the AC fan. But is does indicate that removing the bumper is the first step to getting to this section. I looked at mine and that is how I would go at it. I have replaced my radiator and I know that from the rear is the wrong direction. There is a section to remove the front wall trim. The sequence for this is remove, front bumper, impact absorbers, air guide for radiator, and suction filter. I think you can just remove the bumper and the air guide and get to the fan. Good luck.
I bought the $154 version of the CD to get all of the technical bulletins with it. I think this is all you will need.97 740iL
Guys:
Consider myself fairly talented mechanically... Started removing the front end to replace the AC fan and got slightly stalled. Has anybody already done this? What is the simple order of operations? IE which bolts first? Does the bumper have to come off? I don't have a manual but am considering purchase of the CDs... which do you recommend? Last months issue is cheaper and is surely adequate for my backyard antics.
