I bought the iL because I liked the way it looked and it was distict enough not to be confused with the 540i. It's just a preference. They both will fit in a standard garage. People rave about the back seat room and one unexpected benefit, my kids don't kick the back of my seat when I am driving. Well, as much. And at 130 mph, sideways the iL holds the corners a little better. (Just kidding, I threw that in for you, Bimmerhead.)
