This is a question that most of us on this board will have to deal with at some point or another, I appreciate all responses. I am posting for my dad. He has a 98 740iL and when its lease is up he will be in the market for a new car. (It still has almost one year to go) He needs less of a family car because both my sister and I are out of the house, pursuing higher education. That leaves him, my mom, an younger brother. The new 7er design isnt exciting him at all (this frm a guy who had a e23 before his e38)and the e60 5er is even worse. He was thinking of getting a sports car such as the porsche 996 BUT I was concerned as this would be his daily driver and I think that it might be a little to hard edged a car for him (we live in NY and he hates potholes). The only sports cars out there that are reasonable daily drivers are the CLK 430 coupe, Lexus SC430, and maybe the jaguar coupe. He wont even look at a 330 because its small and unimpressive. The car has to be an automatic because my mom doesnt drive stick. There is the CL class but that gets pricey. He would like to stay in the 740's range of 70k or less. So my question is that, if you needed less room than the seven, felt like getting a practical daily driver car in NY @70k or less with an automatic trnsmission WHAT WOULD YOU GET. I wish bmw would make a 6 an make this simple. I really dont want my parents to get a mercedes because they jsut got a 01 ML (MOMS DESICION)and we have always been bimmer people. This car will most likely be leased also. Thanks
