In Reply to: What causes rear "knocking" when breaking ? posted by Big-M on May 27, 2001 at 00:42:55:

First off, it's spelled "braking".

Can you describe the knocking sound and what causes it to occur? Does it knock just once upon application of the brakes or does it knock repeatedly? If the latter, then does the sound occur once per revolution of the wheels? Does it happen under light braking or only under heavy braking? If there is only a single clunk, does it occur when backing up?

Basically, I need to know EXACTLY what you are doing to make this sound happen. The more detail you can provide, the more likely I (or someone else here) can help you.

Dave Z.
