I recently purchased a 98 740IL that had the black/chrome trim painted to match the Orient Blue Color of the car in addition to the Hamman Exhaust and body trim pieces. I did not like the look at all and spent about $700 to replace all black and chrome trim (except for around the side windows).
I did not like the look before I bought the car but the price was right ($32K with Nav System with 60K miles).
I have a silver 97 E38 and am about to have the lower black panels painted silver to match the body like the new E38's. My question is, I'm alos considering having the black trim pieces removed and painted silver. I'm talking about the thin black strips that circle all the way around the doors and bumpers. The 2002 models (and most newer models) are removing all black trim pieces.
Any advice? Has some seen this done before...a pic would be awsome. What do you think if it were done right?
