I believe you can get a switch to match what you have. I have with my other cars. If BMW can not I would be very surprised. An no, this is a new one on me. I have not heard of or seen this item on the board. If you are smart you will not put a lot of other keys on the same key as your car key. This will adventually cause the switch to fail. The only ignition switch I have ever replaced was lost due to a heavy set of keys.

Came home tonight and ignition switch failed to shut my car off. The key just spins in the cylinder and can be pulled out in any position. Obviously could not shut the car off and had to pull fuse for the fuel pump. Has anyone had this occur to them? If it's the ignition switch how much and does that mean that my ignition will have to be a different key than the doors.
