Carfax came up clean

I'm looking at buying a 1997 750il and I just subscribed to carfax on Friday. My wife had a Neon that should have been totaled but the insurance company decided to screw with her instead. She ended up selling that Neon to a junkyard after the transmission went out.

We used the Neon's VIN as a test for carfax - as far as carfax could tell, that Neon was perfectly fine. They had absolutely no record of anything ever happening to that car. So, my faith in carfax has been greatly diminished.

My plan on the 750il is to call a BMW service center with the VIN and ask if all of the regular maintence has been followed as well as if any out of the ordinary work has been done on the car.
