Analog phones had power boosters that increased power to 3 watts form .6 watt. BMW offers a compensator that makes up for the loss of some power when attached to vehicle through coaxial cable. The 7 series coming from the factory with the CPT 8000 phones installed will already have the compensaotr installed. if you are retrofitting the phone to an older model the compensator is an option (the voice imput system is also an option on retrofits)Liz Higham

Do any of you know if the wattage of the CPT8000 gets boosted when the phone is docked? Typically, mobile phones have .5 watts, however, phones mounted in the car typically have a full 3 watts. Since the BMW phone is tightly integrated into the car's electrical system, it would seem like they would take advantage of this. This obviously makes a huge difference in reception. Thanks, jon
