Speedometers are almost always more optimistic in speed (a little higher) to keep you out of trouble with the radar, for safety reasons, and just in case you put larger tires on. That's normal. But the mileage should be actual. That cable running up from the driveshaft is used for both speed and miles; it's the computer that adds an extra mile per hour or two to your speed, but nothing to the actual miles driven.

has anyone else experienced their bmw car or motorcycle speedometer reading speeds at higher than actual? Also, odometer reading more miles than actual? If so let me know what you are experiencing. Thanks!
