garage door remote into the buttons in the car, but what they dont tell you is that newer garage door openers need to learn the new remote device's signature. I had to press a button on my door opener motor, behind the light lens. Once pressed a red light flashes, and then it is able to learn a new remote. Try this and press the button in the car and it should learn (red lihgt stays on solid) and then work. Mine requires that I hold it down for a second as well, so don't just press and let go, try holding it a bit longer thant eh normal remote would need. Go to the homelink.com web site as well for more good info on troubleshooting this issue.
