I recently got a new garage door opener and ran into the same problem. It's pretty simple actually, I'll try to list the steps as accurately as I can. You should have a second person to help you too.

1. Do what you usually would to set it. (Press the first two buttons until the orange light shows up.)

2. Press the button you want to program until the orange light starts to flash.

3. Keep pressing the button while the second person presses the "train" button on the garage door unit itself. (On mine all you have to do is press it and let go NOT holding your finger on the train button.)

4. Let go of the button and you should be good to go!

Note: The orange light might not start flashing quicker after the third step like it usually would.
