This board has been a source of invaluable knowledge as it relates to owning and maintaining my 740iL. Both 747 and Big T and many, many others, have all provided immeasurable support to the rest of us who lack the knowledge to figure some of these things out on our own. Seeing some of these comments re: the e65 and relating people who don't appreciate the looks (like me!) as being an indication of their ability to afford it is incredibly childish and quite naive. Personally, it's posts like thise that tarnish the pure intent of the board, diminishing it's value.
Since when did buying used versus new indicate anything other personal fiscal philosophy. BMW's depreciate faster than most any other auto on the road. Could I have afforded new? Of course. But what does that matter? Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I believe in letting someone else take the depreciation $ hit. I bought a used 98 740iL that was almost 2 years old with 8K mi and I'm damn proud of it.
I would argue that most everyone who buys a late model 740iL, regardless of its age, has to be able to afford a new one. Cars are lifestyle purchases. People do not buy cars, new or used, that don't fit their lifestyle.
Gone for only a couple of days but apparently missed your grand entrance on this board.
First thanks for giving me an unexpected morning chuckle. Sure helps to start the day with a good joke (and you are one). It also helps to know there are people out there like you (in case you miss my point I mean that it is reassuring to know there are people as shallow and incoherent as you).
That someone such as you is presumably financially capable of affording a 7 (any 7) is one of the wonderful paradoxes of modern capitalism.
Without exception posters on this board are BMW admirers inteligent and educated enough to question and critique developments and products of any level by anyone at any time. Well until your arrival that is.
All your posts are shallow narrow minded personal attacks and idiotic references to affordability. None of your mental regurgitations had any valuable contribution to the debate on the aesthetic direction chosen be BMW for the new 7 (why do I have as I type this nagging feeling that I am waisting my time?).
You also broke one cardinal rule... you bragged about your own financial capacity... Let me put it in simpler terms you might some day grasp. It's like when you brag about your physical endowment, you are under average (yes guy, 5 is under and no you don't start way back there) but feel safe claiming you're above because no one will ask you to prove it. What you don't realize is that talking about it by itself gives you away.
So, in closing... go away you little person with the shallow mind, you're bothering us.
