Because of this (in case of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (std. wheelbase) competing with the E-Class) Mercedes-Benz dropped the standard wheelbase Sedan from the US market. I think that BMW should do the same, because we Americans like bigger, yet agile cars, better than Europeans.

An increasing number of your fellow Americans are understanding the benefits of having a European ride and handling setup. However, my experience of US cars, both those driven by friends and those from hire shops, is jello for suspension and the cornering power of a hover mower. A car like the Cadillac Seville, while well built, available in right hand drive and powered by the most indestructible V8 lump, are panned by critics because it handles like a wet bar of soap.

Basically, count yourself in the minority :)
