IMHO, iDrive is a solution in search of a problem.

I hope you're right that they go back to more conventional controls. iDrive reminds me of all the current aftermarket car stereos where you can't even find the volume control. Lots of power in few controls, but terrible ergonomics.

Mercedes new S-Class suffers from a really nasty set of electronic controls too, and has been a turn off for many buyers (including me). We'll have to wait and see if the same thing happens with iDrive.



What do you think?

I bet BMW yanks it out and returns to a traditional system within a year. I think it will flop big time. It just seems funky. Otherwise, I think the E65 will be a success.
