I believe it's for non-US versions with fog lights. The "brake light" message is common on the 7, and can come even if the bulb is ok. Check that you have a good connection and clean if necessary. Also, try different brand bulb. I solved the same problem by getting new BMW tail light assemblies with white blinkers. They are not expensive from Circle BMW (www.circlebmw.com).

But It was my center light (in the rear windshield that was out. And it really is out. See posts below on how to replace. I haven't got to the dealer yet to get the bulb, but it's only $2.00.

Can anyone tell me why there is one bulb assembly missing from each of my bake lights. The outboard bulb is installed and there is a hole where an inboard bulb assembly can be installed. Could this be the reason for my intermittent "Check Brake Lights" warning?
