I believe it's for non-US versions with fog lights. The "brake light" message is common on the 7, and can come even if the bulb is ok. Check that you have a good connection and clean if necessary. Also, try different brand bulb. I solved the same problem by getting new BMW tail light assemblies with white blinkers. They are not expensive from Circle BMW (www.circlebmw.com).Big-T
But It was my center light (in the rear windshield that was out. And it really is out. See posts below on how to replace. I haven't got to the dealer yet to get the bulb, but it's only $2.00.
Can anyone tell me why there is one bulb assembly missing from each of my bake lights. The outboard bulb is installed and there is a hole where an inboard bulb assembly can be installed. Could this be the reason for my intermittent "Check Brake Lights" warning?
