THey work the same as the Mercedes S and CL-class. You don't have to slam the door shut, just far enough to "catch" the door and it closes the door the rest of the way, basically grabbing onto the latch and pulling it in to the car. I've had them on my S-Class's before and my current CL and it is easy to get used to it. If I've driven my CL for a few days and then get into my 740, it never fails I don't close the door all the way.
