then go to the second entry labled "E39 do it yourself oil change". Then see the post by Jim Cash and the follow ups (they correct the oil filter cap torque to 18 Ft-lbs, and provide other good info). It's a snap. E38 is identical. I believe your owner's manual lists the size wrenches needed. The one for the oil filter cap is huge. If you don't have one that size you could probably make one out of wood as it's just a big square nut and torque requirement is low.
