Here is the detail on the pedal. If this does not work you may need to reset the tension of the parking brake. Resetting the parking brake takes a special rig according to the repair CD. This allows the correct stopping power to be set with each notch(click) of the parking brake pedal. You may be able to do this adjustment without the rig. I have not tried it. Someone else may know more about this than I do. Good luck.

97 740iL

My parking brake will only go down 1/2 way and I am told that it is not the cable or shoes. My independant mechanic told me that the problem is in the linkage within the pedal.

Can someone please post the TIS info on removing and installing this? I not having a parking brake especially when parking on a hill...all that weight on the transmission.

Thanks,

Salty Dawg
