Going from memory, but there was a very good set of instructions in the archives somewhere.

There is a plastic plug in the fender/hood drain rail right above and back about two inches from lights. This needs to come out to take the side lights out, I broke mine not realizing this.

You need a Torx tool (#10?) to remove screw at the bottom of the assembly; a torx socket is too wide, you need the longer shaft in the screwdriver model.

The cover panel at the bottom of the headlights really do "slide" to pop off, however, I don't remember at the moment if it is inboard or outboard...
