The metal sunroof is an option on all models.
When you opt for the break-resistant security glass, for the windows, the moonroof comes with normal "breakable) glass -- I don't know why -- so you have the option of going with the metal moonroof.
So you can definitely see a metal sunroof on a non-Protection car.

I don't believe there is any unmistakable distinguishing feature you can use to identify a Protection series from afar.
Sure, most of them come with those multi-spoke wheels with the run-flat tires. Most of them are Silver or Black. The windows are definitely thick and have a certain thick, color reflecting look to them, but without stepping up to one -- I don't think you're going to know.
Once you get close -- just tap on the windows -- they feel like brick walls. The rear center console will have seat, radio, etc. controls in it -- and will always be down -- because, I believe it's not retractable.

The protection models do NOT have a glass moonroof... it's metal.
