The simplest, most cost effective and, perhaps, safest cleaning solution is anti-reflective lens cleaner. It is available from any eyeglass store (Pearle, Lenscrafter, For Eyes, etc.). It's about $5-7 per bottle. I have found the results superior to everything else I've tried. If it is safe to use on the AR coated lenses of eyeglasses, it has to be safe for the film-coated windows of the Bimmers. With two years of use under my belt, the results are sterling. Also, I use a high quality paper towel. Most laundry detergents leave some residue on a towel, which is partly the cause of streaking if you use a clean towel (which actually is not perfectly clean.)

I know this is such a small item in the scheme of things BUT it drives me bonkers! I want clean windows and can't find the right formula. I have tired numerous window cleaning products and still have film on the inside of my 1997 740IL. No matter what I do, i end up with not so clean and clear glass. This is expecially problematic for the rear window and the windshield.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.
