1) How do you pull out the receiver?
2) How long did it take to fix and how much did it cost?

Mine did the same thing. The raido/tape player are completely independent from the CD player as far as one playing without the other. Once you remove the radio/tape player the CD player will not longer play. I sent mine back to Alpine to get it fixed. Downtown Radio in Denver is their repair center. 800-373-3539. Pull the radio out to make sure it is a Alpine. That was what was in my 97 740iL.

My stereo tuner seems to only work intermittenly. Some days it works, some days it doesn't, sometimes it works for only a few seconds. The interesting thing about it is that the CD player will work even though the tuner and tape deck won't. I'm not a technical person and I don't know anything about stereos but I was hoping to find out if anyone else has experienced this problem and if they have any recommendations. The dealership says that I should replace it with a referb unit(they want $600 for a referb!). Thanks.
