I am driving the E32 right now and I am wondering wat year should I get for the E38. I heard the early ones have a lot of problems on the engine and the tranny. So, which years one should I go for and which years one whould I stay away from? Any advice? Thanks

I've owned a couple BMW's in the past and after looking real hard for several months I settled on an Orient Blue '97 740iL with 90,000 miles for $25k and so far I couldn't be happier. It has all the room I could want, especially in the iL package (I'm 6'5"), feels tight as a drum and is free from the earlier E38 Nikasil problems (93-95?). And lots of features too. I feel like a king driving down the road.

I would go post '95 and get the iL.
