I eliminated the noise under the steering column (archive)

Took off the bottom pieces ( I had to remove the wood trim and a bunch of screws ). I reached in there and there were a few wires going from the steering column to the engine compartment. The steering column is supported by a couple of flat horizontal metal plates and the noise I kept hearing must have been the wires touching those plates. ( clank clank ). I pushed the wires far away from those plates and reassembled everything. No more noise.I think all wire harnesses have to be wrapped in some kind of foam material to eliminate this kind of noise.
