I checked out the G500 here in Beirut, and since it is not on sale (And hasn't been since 8 years) they (Merc.) told me thatI would have to place an order for this G Class, plus... (get ready for the shocking news)... it will cost me a tick above $92,000. I almost shouted when I heard that... But anyway, I thought it over for a while and came up with the conclusion that it's not even worth owning such a car IN such a country. I would rather keep it in a relatively stable environment (in terms of security, that is.)
So, I ended up choosing a Land Rover Defender. iTS WICKED...however, I found it a bit too long... but that's okay... I mean, I'm, buying this vehicle to use it maybe once or twice a week only (camps and mountain trips)... And it cost me $42,500 brand new. I did not buy it yet, coz honestly I came across an aftermarket Mercedes DEFENDER (never knew there existed a Merc with the same name !) which was for $28,000... Now I dreaded the price coz it was too low for a place like this one here... So Im taking it to Merc.dealer for testing next Friday... I like it in terms of length and height.. but then again... I couldnt just spend so much money without being completely satisfied about every inch of the 4x4... call me naggy but learnt a lesson from being ripped off with a $25,000 1993 325i last year... that only turned out to be worth $18-19,000 only. It was difficult to have learnt that kinda info later on.
Oh well, sorry that I have prolonged this post. I shall definitely let you know what I settled on.
