I know this does not provide a solution, but it has made up my mind what I'll do if I get a flat. I'll call BMW roadside assistance and let THEM change it. At least I won't have to deal with the crappy jack.

Does anybody have a good replacement solution for the factory jacks. They are a serious hazard. It almost killed my wife when the jack sunk into the asphalt, tilted and let the car fall. I can't say enough how bad they really are. If there was anything that needed a NTSB recall this would be it. I can't believe that BMW hasn't had multiple law suits over these. Let me know if you have replaced your jack with one that really works.
