Does it not retract AT ALL? or just partially?
You can ease the shade past the flash (the vertical seam @ ~ half-way) into the slot. One of mine hangs up there.
Or it could be the retracting spring mechanism - which has had several postings here. That I would leave for the dealer on such a new car.

Anyone know how to fix this problem. It's the small shade, not the big window one. The car's brand new (01 740i sport) but I don't feel like driving to the dealer for the warranty fix if I can help it.
