NAPA has a battery which is slightly smaller (length, not height or depth) and fits perfectly - BMW provides another threaded hole for the holddown - and comes complete w/ vent - but not folding handles.
Some have said that it does not have as much reserve capacity? It is a couple of pounds lighter.
It's been working fine for my '96 E-38 for over a year. Cost was ~$105-115.

Please provide any brand name replacement, model # and cost for the battery - outside of the dealer. Dealer quoted me $340 installed which seemed to be high. I searched the archives and didn't see any replacements.
