1993 740 auto trans failure in reverse (archive)

has anyone out there had or heard of the 5 speed auto trannys failing in reverse. Its not the checkballs in the valve body, I have already pulled the valve body and checked them. I found a lot of aluminum pieces in trans, I think its the reverse clutch pack snap ring retainers. I plan on dropping trans and rebuildind myself.Is this a common failure?
