I went to a Cingular office and they took the cell ID # off of the phone. My car was a NY car when I got it, so it had a NY cell # (I live in CA). They were able to assign me a California # and supply prepaid analog service with my cell ID #. BTW - a cell ID # is NOT your cell phone #. They will know what to do when you get there. Of course they will try to sell you digital service (& the necessary phone equip.), but tell them you only want prepaid on your existing analog phone.

I had a 1991 850i that I had prepaid service on through them until I sold it earlier this year & got my 1995 740il, so I don't think it matters how old you car is.

Good luck!
