i actually had the same problem. when i would push the car(redlining), the light would flash a few times and then it would stay lit. Had my local mechanic reset it and it would happen again. Tried reseting about 5 times. Then eventually my catalytic converter started rattling because it went bad. I replaced the cat and the light never came on again. So my problem was attributed to my cat going. Maybe ur cat (or cats) is going bad.
