97 740iL
Just replaced the pads on my 740 after getting a "check brake linings" light. Brakes work fine but I still have the brake warning light. The reset device sold by Peake states it will reset oil service and inspection lights. No mention of the brakes. Anyone use the $49.95 Peake R5? Also is the $149 Peake device that will read "check engine" codes worthwhile? Guess BMW doesn't want you working on your own car, but the dealer wanted more than $1300 for front and rear brakes, oil change, coolant flush, and brake fluid change. I don't know if that is a typical price, but I thought it was ridiculous. Car is a 98, has 25,000 miles, and was put in service in March of 1998.
