Early E32 could be had with a 5-speed manual in the six-cylinder version. Very few came to the US, but they can be found from time to time.

The E38 is not available in the US with manual transmission. By the way, BMW's V8 cars have 6-speeds if it's a manual.

We've had lengthy discussions on the board about converting the E38 to 6-speed manual transmission. It's doable, but pricey. Brett Anderson at Koala Motorsport has some experience with this. (www.koalamotorsport.com)

I would personally love to do the conversion on my 95', but "money's too tight to mention" ;)

I've got a 87 528e automatic. I was looking to upgrade to 535i 5-speed (for more power); but then I saw a 740il and went nuts!!! By chance, are 740's (or any other 7 series models) available in a 5-speed?
