Tire Pressures? Need opinions (archive)

Needed to ask opinions out there about this one. I recently was checking the tire pressures in our 98 cpo 740 and I realized that the non-stock (probably cheap) tires that came with the car said max pressure was 36 psi. The recommended pressure for the rear tires is 39 psi. Does that really matter? Should I go back (now 4 months later) and scream about not even being able to follow manufacturers recommendations for safety etc....? Demand replacements? Will they just laugh at me? Any (serious) opinions are appreciated.
