dash display problem (archive)

My temp readouts for climate control setting are losing it! I thought they were foreign language characters at first, but in scrolling them up or down, you can just make out the 6,7, etc. Can these be repaired/replaced by an adequate DIY'er? Or can I look forward to another visit to the dealer?
