John,
My 97 has NO rear sway bar. Instead each side has small figure 8 links between the lower arm & the shock mount. We (VAC Motorsports & I) discovered this when we were considering custom making a set of sway bars for my car. We did swap the OEM front bar for a 22mm 740i Sport bar, but as yet we have not addressed the rear set up.
