I was informed that before you take the car on a test drive, start the car and check the exhaust first. If the exhaust produces a soft brown power-like residue, it's a keeper. If it exerts a dark brown sticky liquid, avoid.

I haven't done it, but this amazing mechanic told me. Have a good day.
