My only guess is the fuel pump or fuel filter. They are located on that side. Only a guess. I can't explain why it would quit. The only other thing I could think of is something electrical causing some feedback through the rear speaker. This usually happens when you have low voltage from something and an electical component is going bad. Good luck.

Today I went to start my 1998 740il, after sitting for over a week and I heard a whistling noise from the passenger side back seat. It only occurs when the car is cranking, not in any other ignition positions and stops when the car starts. thanks in advance for any information.
