I will soon be needing winter rims and tires for my 2001 740i Sport. Tire Rack recommended 2 versions each of Alpins and Blizzaks as well as Borbet rims. Anyone with experience with any of these tires/rims? It seems that Alpins are highly regarded from the posts here. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am running the Arctic Alpins, I guess I don't see much point in the performance version, we have to drive on snow right? I chose the Michelin because Blizzaks lose most of their advantage at half tread. They use a multi cell compound that is only the top layer of rubber. The Michelins are heavily siped and are destined to last longer. We used them on our 750 last winter, lots of snow, and they worked great. Also watch the internet for deals on a set of wheels. My wife found a set of 7 series wheels on ebay, all four for $400.
