Call this a public service message for board members. Recently I ordered a set of "Premium Xenon" bulbs from Jimmy Wu who runs bmwxenon.com. Cost $125.
When I installed them on a 2000 528 two weeks ago, I found out to my dismay, these lights are simply blue-coated ordinary halogens that can be had at Pep Boys for $10-20 each.

The bulbs produce MUCH less light that factory-stock H7s, although the light is certainly "whiter". Dangerously low light output, I feel--I had to run the factory fog lights all the time to supplement the Jimmy bulbs. False advertising I believe--his web site and the bulb box claims the bulbs have the output of a 125w, and he claims the bulbs are made in Germany, which is not true.

I asked for a refund. Jimmy said 10 days had passed since shipment, so no deal. He has refused to answer my correspondence for the last week.

Unfortunately I cannot backcharge a credit card, because Jimmy insisted on Paypal. I will be filing a claim for mail fraud with USPS and possibly a small claims action. I would take this up directly, but the phone # registered with his web site is disconnected and he has not responded to email.

His product, overpriced by an order of magnitude, is potentially dangerous because of the reduced Candela (light output). Regardless of his 10-day refund offer, his customers are entitled to refunds under the UCC based on false advertising and he's should really worry about potential liability if some customer puts his car into a telephone pole because of bad lighting.

Save your money and don't buy this stuff. If you want dim, blue lights, go to Pep Boys. If you truly want to upgrade, there are some better halogen h7s available, such as the Phillips "Vision Plus", about $35-40 per pair.
