Sounds familiar to the symptoms I was having along with a rough idle condition (search the archives for "rough idle.") I have a noticeable hesitation when starting up from a dead stop. Is that your problem? Turned out the water pump was failing slowly and not turning freely. Car has been great since the replacement. Happened with about 46K on the car.

I recently purchased a 97 740. I've owned many cars, including a 750, and no others have behaved this way:

From a stop, a shallow to moderate throttle input yields very little accerlation. If I press on the throttle more, the car will get up and go. It's almost like me driving w/ parking brake partailly engaged (I have verifeid that this is not the case). It seems to help just a little in "S" shift mode (although very little).

The car feels heavy until I reach a certain throttle opening. The RPM seems to climb normally. I've adjusted the throttle cable but to no avail.

Any thoughts?
